Cape, formerly Asimmetric, introduces the Cape Sensor and Dashboard, announces new name
San Francisco — Nov. 2, 2016 — Cape today introduced the all-new Cape Sensor and Dashboard, the simplest way for IT and network professionals to monitor WiFi network and application quality. The company also announced that it has changed its name from Asimmetric to Cape.
"WiFi has become a mission critical service for millions of people, but remains plagued by anecdotal complaints of issues that are difficult to diagnose, making life difficult for IT and network professionals," says David Wilson, co-founder and CEO of Cape.
"Most network tools are intimidating, aimed only at experts, and don't even measure performance from the perspective of end-users," continues Wilson. Furthermore, most users attribute their entire end-to-end Internet experience to WiFi. "If users experience any kind of problem—with DHCP, DNS, captive portals or applications—they think 'the WiFi sucks.'"
"IT and network professionals need a simple way to assure their WiFi network and applications are working perfectly for users."
Cape Sensors and Dashboard
Cape has introduced a new, simple way for IT and network professionals to monitor their WiFi network and application quality.
The Cape Sensor monitors WiFi network and application performance 24/7 by behaving like a real user and reporting issues in real-time before users complain. Cape's philosophy is that testing from an end-user's perspective is the only way to ensure users experience excellent quality WiFi without disruptions.
Cape Sensors take seconds to install and are designed with aesthetics suitable for offices, hotels, hospitals, shopping centers and other venues where people rely on WiFi. The sensors come packed with useful features such as mobile connectivity and power backup. These make installation easy and mean network managers never lose sight of their networks, making Cape Sensors perfect for remote offices and locations.
The Cape Dashboard is the simplest WiFi dashboard for IT and network professionals. With just five main traffic lights, the dashboard is a radical departure from traditional monitoring tools. Network managers can see consolidated network issues at glance. Instant, rich hovers and drill-downs enable rapid, remote troubleshooting. The dashboard is cloud based and requires no on-premises installation.
Cape Sensors are available immediately for ordering on www.capenetworks.com and will begin shipping to new customers in January 2017.
The Cape Sensor and Dashboard is a ground-up redesign of every element of Cape's previous WiFi monitoring product, which is used in the United States, South Africa and several other countries.
"We changed our name to Cape because we want our name to reflect the simplicity we're striving for every day with our product," says Wilson. "Cape also honors our origin—we founded our company in Cape Town, South Africa, where we spent more than a year designing, coding and soldering in a friend's basement, and where we continue to grow our engineering teams."
"Finally, a cape symbolizes heroism. As WiFi becomes ever more critical we're all relying on IT and network pros working behind the scenes, often without thanks, to fix problems, improve quality and make the Internet work better for all of us. We think that's heroic."
